David Press - Managing Director, DMJ Recruitment

Congratulations, you've earned your law degree!

After years of hard work, late-night study sessions, and endless exams, you've reached a significant milestone in your academic journey. However, if you find yourself standing at a crossroads, unsure of where to go next, you're not alone. Many recent graduates encounter the same dilemma – what's the next step after University?

Perhaps you have decided that becoming a Barrister or a Solicitor isn’t the right path for you, or maybe you’re struggling to secure a training contract and you need to consider alternate careers. People often forget that the legal field is vast and multifaceted, offering an array of opportunities beyond the traditional path of practicing law in a law firm or courtroom.

To help graduates make informed decisions about their future, DMJ offers Governance Insight Days—an invaluable opportunity to learn more about a career in corporate governance, and to meet experienced professionals in the field who can give you an insight of what this career path entails.

Corporate governance remains a relatively obscure career option for many university students, often overshadowed by more traditional paths in law and business. This field plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and transparency of organisations, and despite its significance, it frequently goes unnoticed by students who may not realise the fulfilling and impactful careers it offers.

Our insight days aim to raise awareness of the benefits of a career as a Company Secretary, by providing the following:

Sharing In-Depth Industry Knowledge
Our insight days provides graduates with an immersive experience into the world of governance. It's a chance to learn about the sector's intricacies, trends, and career opportunities directly from experts with years of experience in the industry. This firsthand insight can be invaluable in helping graduates make informed career decisions.

Opportunity to Network with Industry Professionals
Networking is a crucial aspect of building a successful career in cosec, and the insight day offers graduates a unique chance to connect with industry professionals, including recruiters, experienced governance specialists, and potential employers. These connections can open doors to mentorship, internships, and job opportunities.

Exploring the Diversity of Roles
The field of governance is diverse, encompassing roles in corporate governance, nonprofit and public sector governance, and listed, private limited roles and more. Insight days provide graduates with exposure to a wide range of governance roles, allowing them to explore various career paths and find the one that aligns with their interests and aspirations.

Providing Insight into Career Progression
During the insight day, graduates can gain valuable insights into the career progression and development opportunities available in the governance sector. Understanding the potential growth trajectory and pathways can help graduates set realistic career goals and plan for their professional advancement.

Interactive Workshops

Graduates can actively participate in conversations, ask questions, and engage in hands-on activities. These sessions provide a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the governance sector.

So, how do I get involved?
