Job Description

Reporting to the Company Secretary, and working closely with the team, this varied role will cover general compliance duties for a multi-national private group. These include managing the vendor due diligence process, and assisting with compliance with data protection, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, competition/ anti-trust and modern slavery requirements.

This role is suited to a junior-level compliance professional with some experience and a desire to learn, and who has the ability to multi-task and take a pragmatic approach to compliance in a fast-paced commercial environment. A good knowledge of data protection compliance is essential.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
*Conducting due diligence on vendors as part of the contract life cycle.This includes identifying and classifying risks, and making recommendations to mitigate those risks.
*Completing privacy impact assessments relating to data processing activities.
*Part of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance working group.
*Providing 'front-line' ad hoc guidance to business stakeholders on compliance areas.
*Providing training to employees on compliance areas and conducting awareness raising activities.
*Dealing with clearance requests under the company's anti-bribery and sanctions policies.
*Monitoring and interpreting changes in law that will impact the business and assisting with developing new processes and drafting policies.
*Assisting with compliance projects.


PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications / Competencies / Skills / Experience
Essential
*A sound understanding of the principles of risk management and compliance.
*Experience of working in data protection compliance and knowledge of data protection principles.
*Good understanding of, and interest in, the legal compliance landscape.
*Ability to understand regulations and legal principles and their application to the business.
*Educated to a degree level or equivalent.
*Proactive, ability to work on own initiative, with good organisation and time management skills and happy to work as part of a team.
*Ability to effectively communicate with people internally and externally at all levels.
*Accurate, with an eye for detail, and able to meet deadlines.

Desirable
*Experience working in a general compliance role.
*Data protection qualification.
*Previous experience of providing staff training.
