An opportunity has arisen for a junior In-House Legal Counsel to provide reliable, accurate and commercially focused legal advice to the wider business. This role will support the General Counsel to ensure that a first class legal service is provided to support all departments. You'll be required to operate in a timely, efficient and accurate manner whilst working in a fast paced environment.
Day To Day Responsibilities:
Review and understand all current contractual and statutory obligations and liabilities on the company in order to assist the relevant business departments to work within such parameters.
Review, draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of legal and commercial documents which may include (but are not limited to) service agreements with clients, licenses & IP agreements, general commercial contracts and non-disclosure agreements.
Identify and analyse legal issues arising from transactions, business strategies, initiatives and new projects.
Assist in the identification, management and control of legal and related operational risks.
Assist in the management of external legal advisers; including the issuing of clear instructions and monitoring of legal spend.
Assist the legal team with ad hoc queries for all areas of the business, including researching and investigating specific legal matters and presenting the results to the General Counsel and the Senior Management Team.
Support process improvement projects where required.
What About You?
You are likely to be approaching qualification or fairly recently qualified (NQ-2PQE). You will ideally specialise in commercial contracts but you will have a working knowledge of a broad range of legal matters including IP. We may be able to consider those with only a corporate seat and light commercial or IP experience if they can evidence a genuine interest and flair for this area.
You must have the ability to advise and make decisions in a very fast changing environment.
You must have the ability to prioritise your workload and adapt to the ever changing needs of the business.
Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and problem solving skills will also be necessary.
You will work alongside the GC and a newly appointed mid level commercial/IP lawyer so supervision, training and mentoring will be provided.
