Job Description

Prestigious and global law firm is seeking a number of associates to join their Employee Benefits group. There are two positions currently within the team - a senior associate position and a junior associate position.

Both roles will involve working with some of the world's largest multinationals, from the UK, EU, and US. The successful candidate will find themselves working on a truly global level, with colleagues from around the world collaborating to provide accurate and commercially-sound advice to FTSE 100 clients. In an age of increasing regulation - particularly in the UK Financial Sector - and with rising barriers to global mobility, the successful candidate will also find themselves working in newly developing areas of law.
The role is situated within a small UK based team which regularly works with fellow lawyers from around the world. Principally the role will involve advising on the Employee Benefits angle of takeovers, redomestications and IPOs. The successful candidate must have proven ability and drive, as well as some experience of Employee Benefit work, outlined below:

Junior Associate Position:

*Advising on all aspects of the implementation and operation of share plans for UK, US and European multinationals;
*Supporting the Corporate - Private Equity and Funds team and corporate tax team in transactional, advice work and business development support;
*Experience in PLC development and advising on takeovers and mergers and other transactions;
*Understanding and communicating trends in the sector and their impact on the client's position to clients;
*Drafting legal documents that are structurally consistent and accurately reflect relevant instructions;
*Preparing client updates on developments of interest to our client base;

Senior Associate Position:

*Advising on complex employee and corporate tax issues and tax planning;
*Advising on tax withholding and reporting obligations in relation to employee share plans;
*Undertaking BD activity consistent with the team's wider strategy,
*Taking responsibility for thinking ahead and checking that matters are progressing according to the timetable and communicating appropriately with clients;
*Maintaining regular dialogue with the Partner on performance against budget;
*Recognising actual or potential sensitive client issues;
*Creating a time/fee estimate for a whole matter where required and taking responsibility for monitoring costs/delivery within budget/checking that fee updates are being sent to clients;
*Matching 'time spent' to value and interpreting financial data to understand individual/matter profitability;
*Taking a role in analysing and interpreting billing/realisation data to assess level of profitability and reviewing pre-bills where required; and
*Making preliminary recommendations on difficult ethical/conflict issues and referring to Partner(s)

As mentioned previously, there is both a junior and senior associate position available within this team and therefore, candidates do not need all of the above experience to be considered.
