Job Description

Firm of chartered accountants require a Company Secretarial Assistant with experience gained within the professional services space.

The Company Secretarial Department advises clients on the impact of company law and regulation, helping them to ensure that they fulfil their obligations towards regulators, shareholders, employees and other stakeholders. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to begin a challenging professional career as a Company Secretary, offering on the job work experience as well as study support (if required) leading to a professional qualification.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
The purpose of the Company Secretarial Department is to provide an efficient service, supporting the clients of the firm with regards to company secretarial matters. There are approximately 350 clients representing a broad range of industries.

Purpose and aim of role

*To learn about all aspects of Company Secretarial work in an accountancy practice.

*To become an integral part of the team and rapidly demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Company Secretarial matters, commensurate with this position.

*To develop an understanding of client needs and the service levels required.


Duties and responsibilities

The candidate will be involved with the ongoing compliance work and will liaise with internal and external clients on technical issues. Main responsibilities will include, but not be confined to the following:

*Compliance work, including:

*Preparation of compliance statements using 'CoAct Online';

*Filing of confirmation statements and accounts;

*Maintaining and updating statutory registers;

*Preparation of documentation relating to the approval of accounts;

*General statutory work i.e. preparation of documentation to record changes in officers, accounting reference dates and registered office;

*Companies House searches; and

*Providing administrative support to the department.

The Company Secretarial Department is a growing area of the business and as such is very busy and can be pressurised at times.
