DMJ are excited to partner with one of the most recognised global conglomerates in their search for a Senior Legal Counsel.

Based in Dubai the role is part of a 12 strong legal team. The department manages 70%-80% of the legal work internally making this a broad ranging and strategically facing position. The team are diverse and longstanding.

Job Purpose
Lead negotiator for transactions across the business. Oversight of junior output. Senior liaison point with internal and external stakeholders. 

Legal support to also include:
  • leading contractual negotiations with external senior lawyers and other counterparties;
  • helping drive strategic outcomes from a contracting and compliance context, in support of agreed corporate objectives;
  • free-drafting to reflect negotiated outcomes;
  • reviewing, amending and approving legal structures;
  • proactive provision of subject matter expertise, including analysis of relevant laws and regulations; and
  • ensuring the CxO/Director level signatories within the Group are fully aware of the risks, mitigations and key legal issues in all contracts agreed under the SC’s watch.
Strategic Responsibilities
  • Show initiative in relation to the formulation of strategic goals and their practical implementation. 
  • Drafting oversight and control in relation to all transactions except exceptionally complex transactions. 
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and industry best practice.
  • Retaining contacts with senior key external legal experts in relation to all matters requiring specialist expert advice.
  • Lead contract negotiations with principals, suppliers and legal counsel of counter parties (non-Arabic). 
  • Advise heads of department and key management on legal matters pertaining to their responsibilities, making informed decisions within their capacities in line with relevant Schedules of Authority.
  • Comprehensively and succinctly synthesise large volumes of information. Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Company governance awareness and ability to draft company governance documentation on request. 
  • Solution orientated in a practical and compliant manner, in line with corporate governance and principles.
